Fallout 5 is needed more than ever following the success of the live-action series, and its release date could be sooner than we thought.

While the Fallout series has always been popular, it had a slight dip in popularity around Fallout 4, and especially Fallout 76 when it first launched.

Luckily Fallout 76 made a considerable comeback, which you can check out below

However the series seemingly hit an all time high when the Amazon Prime Video series aired, encouraging both old and new fans to dive back into the wastelands.

This quickly led to discussions about when the next Fallout game was to release, as while Fallout 76 is in a much better state than launch day I think many are in the mood for a new location and adventure.

Unfortunately Bethesda is currently all-in on the development of The Elder Scrolls VI, not to mention Starfield’s post-launch support, so it really can’t spare any of its workforce to slap Fallout 5 together, at least not in a state fans will be happy with.

However there are still rumours floating around that Xbox is keen to get a new Fallout game out the door, and is considering ways to make it happen.

While it’d be foolish to interfere with the development of The Elder Scrolls VI, one option apparently under consideration is to hand Fallout 5 to a different developer, something that hasn’t happened since Fallout: New Vegas.

Personally I’d be all for this, especially if Obsidian Entertainment were given another crack at the Fallout world.

Fans aren’t convinced though, as many think even with another studio’s help it won’t be released in time.

“It's insane to think you can have a game out to ride this hype wave in time” said one user, and “Why did they waste so much time on Starfield?” said another.

One user even proposed the idea of handing the Fallout IP to Larian Studios, the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, to make a new game in the series.

Who knows what the future holds for the Fallout series, though if you’re desperate to see Fallout 5, know it still probably isn't coming anytime soon.
