Dying Light 2 has received a new patch, adding in-game digital currencies and microtransactions, much to the disappointment of fans.
After a mixed reception at launch, Dying Light 2 managed to claw its way back to relevancy with several quality-of-life improvements, which were introduced to the game through patches and content updates.

The main complaint surrounding the game was the parkour system, one of the main reasons you’d want to play, felt like a downgrade compared to the first game. The movement didn’t feel as fluid, the characters felt like they didn’t weigh anything, and most of all, it just wasn’t as fun to race across a zombie-infested city as it used to be.
Thankfully, Techland listened to the feedback and set out to fix the game with post-launch support, and the game is in a far better state than it used to be, at least it was…
The latest 1.12 update has made the bold move of adding microtransactions to the game, complete with an in-game store stocking the latest character skins. The news was announced in a patch notes blogpost on the official Dying Light website, which said: “This update also introduces DL Points! Acquiring skin bundles is now faster and more convenient. You can grab your favorite skins on the go without leaving the game! Experience it firsthand – everyone will receive 500 DL Points upon launch! To obtain them, visit the in-game store and explore the offerings.”
The free 500 points must be claimed by 7 October, though having a look through the store has revealed that it’s not even enough to buy anything substantial, meaning as far as freebies go, it’s not a very good reward…
Fans will doubt be disappointed by the news, as it seems like every modern release has been plagued by microtransactions in one way or another, whether it be in-game stores like this one, excessive DLC expansions or the dreaded battle-pass.
Dying Light 2 can currently be played on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
