GTA 6 set to bring back returning character as gamers rejoice: 'I'm so happy'

The gaming world is bracing for the imminent arrival of the next Grand Theft Auto, with GTA VI poised to bulldoze the competition in 2026 and possibly become the biggest video game of all time.

While the impressive pre-order sales for GTA VI hint that we're on the verge of greatness, we obviously won't know until the game is out.

Well, we say that, but a recent attack from CyberLeeks aims to spoil everything ahead of time or possibly disrupt the entire launch. Even though there's been a deluge of leaked gameplay features and potential story snippets, the leaks haven't yet revealed if any familiar faces are stopping by.

DJ Cara tipped for GTA 6 return

GTA VI is returning to the fan-favourite locale of Vice City, but whereas the 2002 video game was set in 1986, the next outing is confirmed as a modern-day adventure. This makes it difficult for many of the old guard to return, but over on the r/GamingLeaksandRumors subreddit, there are whispers that GTA V's DJ Cara will be back to spin her decks.

Played by Cara Delevingne, the model and Hollywood actor lent her vocals to the character who you might've heard on Non Stop Pop FM in Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Before she was playing Enchantress in 2016's Suicide Squad or Laureline in Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, voicing DJ Cara was one of Delevigne's first roles.

After being shown a video of her recreating one of her iconic DJ Cara soundbites, Delevigne was directly asked if she's going to be in the next GTA.

It's not much, but with a sly "no comment,” she laughed before trying to move the conversation on.

Delevigne's potential return has caused a stir online, with one person cheering: "Cara’s voice as the DJ is probably the best role she’s ever been in."

Another added: "I’m so happy, I love her."

A third concluded: "She killed in back then!! It would be so great to have her again."

With Rockstar slapping its actors with notoriously stringent NDAs, Delevigne couldn't tell us even if she wanted to. Still, we might need a bit more than a 'no comment' before taking this as gospel.

Who else could return for GTA 6?

There are obvious questions about who else will be back for more. The internet is awash with rumours and speculation that Steven Ogg, Shawn Fonteno, and Ned Luke could reprise their roles in GTA VI.

The problem is that Rockstar tends to retire its protagonists after one game, meaning they can focus on a new story.

All three have spoken out about a potential return in GTA VI, with Luke being the most cryptic.

The other big question is about Tommy Vercetti making a long-awaited return.

Vice City's floral shirt-wearing protagonist is one of the franchise's most iconic characters, and it's technically true that he could be alive and kicking during the events of GTA VI, but another stumbling block is the tragic passing of voice actor Ray Liotta.

Eagle-eyed fans think they spotted a Tommy Vercetti Easter egg in the GTA VI trailers, and unfortunately, all of the above might be confined to little more than throwaway references.

The fact that Rockstar has largely shuttered the 3D universe means Tommy and GTA: San Andreas' Carl "CJ" Johnson are outliers, although someone like Lester Crest is a definite maybe.

Jay Klaitz's Lester Crest is a notorious fixer who is constantly reused in various GTA projects, and if anyone is likely to make a reappearance, we'd put our money on him.
