An eagle-eyed gamer has spotted a Tommy Vercetti, of Vice City, Easter egg hiding in the second GTA VI trailer that we all missed.

Fans of the Grand Theft Auto series will be well aware that once Rockstar Games drops a new trailer, it will be over-analysed and put under the microscope by the community in the hope of finding clues about the upcoming game or maybe even references to previous games in the series.

However, the snippets of gameplay and cinematics that we see in any of the two trailers of GTA VI so far happen so fast that it’s easy to miss something cool. Thankfully, nothing gets past the ever-passionate and dedicated video game community, at least, eventually.

Tommy Vercetti Makes An Appearance In The GTA VI Trailer

Well, kinda. The second trailer for GTA VI was released by Rockstar Games on 6 May 2026, and it gave us our best look at the game yet. Though it appeared to have more rendered cinematics than gameplay, hopefully, we’ll see some gameplay when pre-orders for GTA VI go live later this week.

As brought to our attention by Reddit user WorriedSheepherder42, there is a very brief scene in the second trailer, when one of its protagonists, Jason (the second is Lucia), can be seen giving a cashier a backhand slap.

In the background of this scene, over to the left, a wooden lizard decoration is featured that appears to be wearing a turquoise Hawaiian shirt with palm trees, worn by Tommy Vercetti in GTA: Vice City.

This shirt, albeit a different colour and design, is somewhat inspired by Tony Montana’s shirt in the movie Scarface, starring Al Pacino. As you know, the location of Vice City is also inspired by Miami, the setting of the aforementioned 1983 movie.

If you want to see the easter egg in real-time for yourself, it can be seen at 33 seconds into the second GTA VI trailer on YouTube.

“Nice easter egg!” replied Silver_Education_330.

“Brother, how the f**k did you catch that? This community is insane,” exclaimed Personal_Principle77.

“Rockstar Games never disappoints when it comes to small details like that,” said SolidBat.

However, judging by some of the comments in the Reddit thread, this Easter egg may have previously been discovered by others, but at the very least, it's still the first time that many gamers have seen this today.

Here Are Some Cool Scarface Easter Eggs in GTA: Vice City

As we’ve already established, GTA: Vice City is heavily inspired by Scarface. But what are some of the other best Easter eggs of that movie found in the game?

For starters, the story of the criminal Cuban drug empire of Scarface is one of the main premises of GTA: Vice City. The hotel that Tony Montana stays in at the beginning of the movie, the Sun Ray Hotel, is pretty much cloned in the GTA game with the Ocean View Hotel.

In Scarface, the Sun Ray Hotel is also home to the infamous chainsaw scene. In GTA: Vice City, a chainsaw can be found in an abandoned apartment, in a bloodied shower room, a direct reference to the movie.

Later in GTA: Vice City, Tommy Vercetti acquires the “Vercetti Estate”, a huge mansion that is inspired by Tony Montana’s mansion on Star Island. There is also a room in the Scarface mansion that Tony uses to monitor his property from invaders, which is replicated in the Vercetti Estate.

There are, of course, plenty of other Scarface references in GTA: Vice City, as well as plenty of other nods to 1980s pop culture, but we’d be here all day if we were to list them all.

That being said, we’re sure that when GTA VI arrives on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, it will also have its fair share of Easter eggs to keep fans entertained for years to come.
