Dino Crisis fans divided over new revival teaser

Where’s Dino Crisis?

Capcom fans are worried that we might not get the long-awaited Dino Crisis game following recent announcements at The Game Awards.

It’s fair to say that the recent Game Awards show was a packed event full of surprising reveals, and awards, of course. We had a new game from Naughty Dog announced, which sadly wasn't Uncharted 5 or The Last of Us Part III.

Check out the Onimusha: Way of the Sword trailer below!

However, we did get a new Elden Ring game which caught many FromSoftware fans off guard, which is bringing back a legendary Dark Souls boss. We also got two new unexpected announcements from Resident Evil developer, Capcom.

The two new games in question from Capcom are Onimusha: Way of the Sword and a sequel to the cult-classic and visually stunning, Okami.

Onimusha: Warlords released in 2001 was initially considered as Resident Evil with Samurai Warriors before it went on to be one of Capcom’s most beloved properties in its own right that spawned multiple sequels over the years.

For Okami, not including remasters, this action-adventure only ever had one game that was released in 2006 and I think it’s fair to say that most of us never expected it to get a sequel, that was until the reveal at last week’s The Game Awards.

As awesome as those two Capcom reveals were, fans were not only wondering where Resident Evil 9 was but also a new Dino Crisis, whether the latter is a remake or a new story.

Thankfully, we know that a new Dino Crisis could be on the table as it’s seemingly being considered by Capcom, that’s at least what a questionnaire has led us to believe. Now, as reported by VGC, Capcom says that it’s planning to revive more dormant IPs.

Understandably, Dino Crisis fans are hoping that this dino-horror will be one of the properties still under consideration by Capcom. “Dino Crisis fans watching every Capcom franchise be revived except Dino Crisis,” said dejected Redditor SomethingIntheWayyy0.

“Dino Crisis 1 and 2 are like my favourite games ever,” exclaimed Improvement-Solid.

“This is my theory but I feel if Capcom brings back Dino Crisis, it doesn't want it to just be a clone of the Resident Evil remakes. Even if it's probably what the fans want,” suggests Ehrand.

“Dino Crisis in RE Engine, please,” asked ZXE102Rv2.

Other fans in the thread have pleaded for the likes of Viewtiful Joe and Breath of Fire to make triumphant returns, both of which we’d love to see.

At the time of writing, Onimusha: Way of the Sword has a 2026 launch window while the Okami sequel doesn't have a release date or window, yet.
