Cyberpunk 2077 unofficial third-person mode is 'what we've been waiting for', fans agree

This should have been in the game from the start

Cyberpunk 2077 is a damn good game, especially after all the post-launch support it got, but it really would have benefited from a third-person mode.

I can’t deny looking through the eyes of V and taking in the well-lit neon streets of Night City was a treat, but only having the option of third-person when driving felt like a bit of an oversight.

Take a look at the stunning sights on Night City in the below Cyberpunk 2077 video

Fortunately anything is possible with the power of mods, and you best believe players have torn apart the game since it launched on PC to turn it into the ultimate dystopian RPG.

This includes a third-person mode, and you can see the mod in action on various YouTube videos.

There are varying degrees of success, after all Cyberpunk 2077 wasn’t made to be in third-person so the animations and interactions don’t look too hot, because you were never meant to see them from that angle.

It’s cool nonetheless though, the only issue is a major part of the story is Johnny Silverhand, who you see through V’s eyes to help you get immersed in the plot and world. In third-person it just looks like you’re watching a conversation between two strangers which isn’t as effective.

Many wondered if CD Projekt Red would add a third-person mode when it was supporting the game with fixes and content updates, but no luck.

It at least gives you a better view of what’s happening around, which is fun for combat encounters regardless of how goofy the melee combat might look.

While CD Projekt Red’s next major title is The Witcher 4, it has confirmed a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is in the pipeline.

There’s no telling when it’ll release as The Witcher 4 is only in the early stages of development at the moment, but when it does I wonder if it’ll have an official third-person mode included?
