Baldur’s Gate 3 received another update the other day, and according to Larian Studios, it won’t be the last.

As 2023’s Game Of The Year it’s no wonder Baldur’s Gate 3’s popularity hasn’t declined much over the last few months.

It completely shattered expectations for what an RPG could be, and perfectly adapted the “make your own fun” element of Dungeons & Dragons into a video game format.

Over time, the game has received the occasional update to iron out any lingering bugs and add some new content, the most recent of which went out last week.

With each new patch, there’s been the fear that it’ll be the last one the game ever gets, though according to a member of the Larian Studios team, that's not yet the case.

Replying to an article by PC Gamer about the latest patch Larian Studios’ director of publishing Michael Douse, Cromwelp on X, stated, “Good news kids, it’s not the final update.”

He went on to say, “We ain’t gonna talk about what’s coming for the game because it puts undue pressure on the devs, but there are things we’ve said we’ll do that are still coming, and the chefs must cook.”

While this provides no hints as to what kind of content is coming to the game, fans can at least rest easy knowing there’s more to look forward to.

Many fans are hoping for some sort of expansion since Baldur’s Gate 4 either isn’t happening or won’t be here for quite some time, though it’s unlikely Larian Studios will commit to such a major project.

That being said, for a game with as many options as Baldur’s Gate 3, a few content updates adding new dialogue, the occasional quest and maybe a new ending or two is more than enough to keep the game fresh and alive.
