We did it everybody. We made it to the very end of this year’s The Game Awards. It’s been a night packed-full of surprises, reveals, performances, and of course, awards. With us reaching the show’s conclusion, that means it’s time for the most prestigious award of the night.

That’s right: Game of the Year. 2023 has been absolutely stacked with incredible releases. Even narrowing it down to six nominees must’ve been a struggle but it was Alan Wake II, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Baldur’s Gate 3, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Resident Evil 4, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that ended up in the final running. Well, Timothee Chalamet has just taken to the stage to reveal that this year’s Game of the Year is … Baldur’s Gate 3.

Take a look at the game in action below.

Congratulations to all of the devs at Larian Studios. Baldur’s Gate 3 took home several other awards throughout the night, including Player’s Voice, Best Multiplayer, Best Performance for Neil Newbon as Astarion, and Best Community Support.

In our review, we wrote, “The scale and scope of Baldur’s Gate 3 is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. [...] In a year groaning under the weight of so many exemplary games, it is frankly astounding to me how much taller Baldur’s Gate 3 looms over the rest of the pack. I’m not sure we’ll ever see anything quite like it again.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 is yet to land on Xbox Series X/S, or so you might've thought. Many assumed that we’d get a release date announcement tonight but that didn't come. If you hop on over to the Microsoft Store though, Baldur's Gate 3 is now available to purchase on Xbox so run, run, run. It's finally here after shadow-dropping during the show! We can only imagine that a formal acknowledgement is coming soon.
