The 2024 Game Awards is over and, after four hours, we finally have our Game of the Year: the PlayStation exclusive Astro Bot.

The GOTY winner beat out some stiff competition, winning over fellow nominees Black Myth: Wukong, Balatro, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

It was a jam packed event, and there were too many incredible reveals to feasibly cover.

An Elden Ring spin-off, a brand new original Naughty Dog title called Intergalatic and, my personal fave reveal, Okami II.

But it all came down to this, the event that The Game Awards have been building up to the entire night... but did the best game win?

Naughty Dog unveiled a new IP tonight. Take a look below.

Well, yeah, probably. I mean you know, it's not what I would have picked but... whatever. Metaphor: ReFantazio, you're my GOTY.

Unfortunately for my GOTY, the competition was too strong.

Astro Bot very much deserves the win, but really, any of the nominees could have justifiably taken it.

But don't take my word for it, take GAMINGBible's Kate Harrold's word for it instead.

In her review, Kate described Astro Bot as a something "beyond" just "an entertaining platformer."

"It’s one of the most carefully considered and impressive games I have ever played," wrote Kate in her 10/10 review.

"If you’ve grown up with PlayStation always having been a constant in your life, the journey you’re about to embark on will assuredly be the most heartwarming trip down memory lane. Astro Bot is a monumental triumph that I’m not going to stop thinking about for a very, very long time."

Genuinely incredible to think that, unlike last year, there really wasn't any right answer this time around. Whatever your GOTY pick was, you're right... especially if your pick was Metaphor: ReFantazio.
