After three long hours, the main award has finally been handed out at The Game Awards 2025 and the result is what everybody has expected since its nomination was first announced.
It may have been up against some incredible 2025 releases but there was only one game which was going to walk away with the coveted Game of the Year trophy at The Game Awards.
After many hours, many awards, and many big game releases which we are lucky enough to have covered here at GAMINGbible, the winner of Game of the Year is none other than Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Despite going up against some incredible titles such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Donkey Kong Bananaza, and Hades 2, the hit RPG from French Studio Sandfall Interactive has won the biggest award of the night.

Developed by Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was released back in April and easily became one of the best RPGs to have been released in recent years.
Considered an indie title (and walking away with the Best Independent Game as well), the story follows the volunteers of Expedition 33 who set out to destroy the Paintress, a being who brings about an annual Gommage that erases those at or above an ever-decreasing age.

Praised for its narrative, art and game direction, original soundtrack, gameplay, and stunning performances from actors such as Ben Starr, Charlie Cox, and Jennifer English, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has had a clean sweep at The Game Awards 2025.
Clair Obscur Has Swept The Game Awards.
To be exact, the hit RPG has walked away with eight major awards this evening, excluding Best Performance for English’s performance as Maelle.
In our review of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, our very own Dan Lipscombe called it “a beautifully painted, emotional RPG bursting with new ideas”.
“It whisks the player away into a truly impactful world, with a powerful and emotional story bubbling away, enhanced by some stellar acting,” he wrote.
“There were moments I was brought to spilling a couple of tears, alongside some that had me laughing riotously. The battles, which can so often feel stagnant in a bustling genre, are refreshing, tactical, and delightful.
This is a wonderfully imaginative game, bursting with identity, and it has a lot to say about important topics.”
Congratulations to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 which takes the crown from Astro Bot who walked away with the coveted Game of the Year award back in 2024.
