Brand-new French indie studio Toe Bean Club has officially announced its debut game, Mirage: Miracle Quest.

Blending the turn-based action of Baldur’s Gate 3 with the type of whimsy you’ll find in the works of Studio Ghibli, Mirage: Miracle Quest is a charming new RPG that centres around the titular feline Mirage.

Set in a retro-inspired, hand-painted world, Mirage: Miracle Quest takes players to Andafy which blends the aesthetics and cultures of Madagascar, France, and Japan.

Here, young exorcist Mirage has her life turned upside down when a mysterious creature ravages through her hometown, whispering the name of Mirage’s grandmother in its final breath.

Naturally, Mirage takes it upon herself to find out why the creature would do such a thing, unveiling the dark secrets of the land she’s always called home.

The game’s announcement trailer offers a brief glimpse as to what we can expect from Mirage: Miracle Quest’s gameplay, with the title blending turn-based Baldur’s Gate 3-esque combat with deck-building action you perhaps might find in Slay The Spire.

It would be remiss if I didn’t also mention Mirage: Miracle Quest’s adorable visuals.

If you too are mesmerised by the animation here, that’s likely for a very good reason.

While Mirage: Miracle Quest has experienced game devs on board, so too has it drafted in animators that have worked on projects by both Sony Pictures Animation and Remembers.

For now, Mirage: Miracle Quest is only slated to arrive on PC and a release date is not yet available.

Of course, should its launch be successful, I’m imagining we could see console ports arrive further down the line.

It certainly looks like a title to keep an eye on, so give it a wishlist if you like what you see.
