Baldur’s Gate 3 deserved all of its flowers in 2023 and the RPG is still going strong in the big 2025.
While my copy is on the PlayStation 5 I can’t help but look in awe at PC players’ games, as they of course can extend and improve their playthroughs with the infinite potential of mods.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has official mod support on PC thanks to Larian Studios efforts so it’s incredibly simple to load your next save file with little improvements, and even new classes.
For instance the The Necrobroker Patron - Warlock Subclass mod by Sailor Cat takes one of the game’s main subclasses, The Warlock, and gives it a talk twist, tapping into the most disturbing elements of magic.

Magic is available for several classes in the game but it works better for some than others, though this subclass is the most mighty when it comes to spells and incantations.
The mod’s description says players have “entered a pact with the calculating Necrobroker, Valkrana, whose intel network joins necromancy and divination, using souls and auguries to extract even the most guarded secret from her targets.”
It continues: “What role will you play in the designs of the right hand and envoy of the Seeker herself, patroness of adventurers, Ilyana Miraquinal?
"And to what end will you use the powers of exhumation bestowed by your patron?”
The subclass can be levelled up the same as any other but the perks are slightly tweaked, as you channel the souls of dead individuals to lay waste to your enemies.
It’s not my cup of tea when it comes to Baldur’s Gate 3 as I like to keep things simple as a humble Barbarian, but for those who love the in-game magic system and want more like it, this is the mod for you.
Sailor Cat also has a range of other mods that this one is compatible with, and there’s an in-depth breakdown of all the mod’s levels and what is unlocked.
Given that Baldur’s Gate 3 was the standout release of 2023, even winning the coveted title of Game Of The Year, you’d expect Larian Studios to be hard at work on the next game.
However Larian Studios has made it clear that there are no plans at this time for Baldur's Gate 4.
Sure, this is disappointing but it does open the door for other studios and franchises to have their own crack at a Baldur’s Gate-like game, for instance I think a remake of the first two Fallout games would thrive in this style.
