Fallout fans might be waiting a while for the next game in the series, but a new MMO might be the thing to tide us over until then.
If you’re like me and love the Fallout games, but hate the long wait for the next game, it’s time to look at other projects releasing at the moment to occupy your time.
Pioner is a new FPS MMO created by GFA Games, looking like a mix of Fallout and Stalker with a multiplayer flavour to it.

It’s set in an alternate Soviet-era reality, where old structures lie in ruin within a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
You play as a survivalist who thrives in this harsh land by scavenging equipment, finding supplies, and building loyalty with local factions.
You have to survive not only hostile threats, but also nature itself as you manage your own hunger, rest, and resources.
Pioner emphasises player choice as a big way to drive the story, as you work with different factions, completing missions, and making choices which affect the overall narrative.

With it being a post-apocalypse, there’s combat too, split into either PvE and PvP. PvE combat should satisfy those who prefer to defeat AI enemies.
Large mutated creatures and hostile humans make up the roster of enemies to fight.
Meanwhile, players who want more of a challenge and love the thrill of competitive multiplayer can engage in PvP fights against other players.
The other thing about Pioner is that it has an extraction mode called Shadowlands, which turns the game into more of a high stakes Escape from Tarkov-style shooter where you need to find loot and extract while also fighting off enemy teams.

Pioner doesn’t have a set release date yet, but GFA Games has stated the game will release in 2025.
With us now halfway through the year, it’s likely we should hear more about this very soon.
