No Man’s Sky is dropping another massive free expansion, and to the surprise of no-one, it looks great.
Considering how far No Man’s Sky has come in the nine years since it launched in 2016, it’s genuinely amazing to see how different it is now compared to then. And with each new update, it gets even better.
It hasn’t been long since Hello Games released the big Voyagers update for No Man’s Sky back in August, but it seems as though the developer is already back at it with yet another big free update.
Hello Games is releasing a new update for the game today, titled Breach, and it leans more into the new ship building features and improvements that came with the Voyagers update.

You’ll remember all the amazing creations people started making and sharing on social media after the update dropped, and it appears as though all the features added in Voyagers is about to become even better.
Breach adds explorable space wrecks for your character to find, a feature that Hello Games’ Sean Murray says leans “into that thrill of space-walking, and giving players more excuse to enjoy it”.
By salvaging these wrecks, you’ll be able to find new parts and resources to build your ship with, ultimately enhancing the potential that comes with creating your custom ships.

Murray also states that Hello Games has improved and expanded the ship building features that were introduced in Voyagers, as a response to watching players spend time making their own unique creations.
Breach will also launch an expedition where players traverse a “desolate and abandoned universe to discover what happened to a mysterious abandoned wreck”. This new story is described as a “spooky story” and is “suitable for the Halloween season”.
This requires journeying to the edge of space to salvage from the ship’s wreckage, and also “brings players together to explore the strange and rare purple-star solar systems”.
Hello Games has designed the planets in these new solar systems to be more fun to explore, featuring deeper oceans, more varying terrains, and volatile gas giants. But the main intention is to guide you towards the new space wrecks so you can pick up rare ship parts.

It’s pretty clear that all the content Hello Games wanted to stuff inside Voyagers wasn’t quite able to make it for launch, but that the developer also wanted to wait and gauge community interest before adding to it with the Breach update.
No Man’s Sky: Breach is out today as a free update for all versions of the game.
