The latest major content update for the ever-evolving No Man’s Sky is finally here in 2026.
Developed by the indie studio, Hello Games, before the galaxy exploring, sci-fi adventure, No Man’s Sky graced us with its presence, it was one of the most highly anticipated games of its time. However, what we got at launch fell well below expectations.
Largely thanks to over-ambitious promises at the time, by Hello Games frontman Sean Murray, many fans were very disappointed with the launch of No Man’s Sky, and that’s probably an understatement.
It missed promised features such as online multiplayer. Sure, players would co-exist, but they could not see each other, let alone interact. It was missing a ton of customisation options, in particular when it came to its ships; it had no clans, and it was buggy as hell, to name a few.
No Man’s Sky Evolved for the Better!
Yet, showing how a triumphant comeback should be done, long before Cyberpunk 2077 arrived in 2020, over the years, No Man’s Sky has benefited from a wealth of free content updates that not only delivered on broken promises, but some may argue that the game eventually over-delivered.

With that in mind, the latest content, delivered with update 6.2, aka ‘Remnant’, is finally here across all available platforms. This is the first major update for No Man’s Sky this year, which just so happens to be the year of its 10th anniversary. Check out the trailer below for more information!

What's in No Man’s Sky Remnant Update?
One of the biggest features of the ‘Remnant’ update is the Gravitino Coil, which takes inspiration from the iconic weapon in Half-Life 2.
“Seize and fling a variety of items with the Gravitino Coil, creating your own physics playground,” reads an update on the official website. “Toss the golden artefacts found at planetary ruins, construct a Sphere Creator in your base and toy with its output, or grab and consume the combat supplies dropped by Sentinel drones.”
The update also brings a ton of new customisation options to your vehicles and land structures. There are new mining tools to farm precious materials, you can help planets by disposing of waste, and recycle for new resources at a Waste Processing Plant, and much more.
Players can partake in a new community-driven expedition that has them working together to help clean up ruined planets to make them a safe place to live. Who knows, you might even find a rare reward or two. You can, of course, play the expedition on your lonesome if that is your preference.
The ‘Remnant’ update will download and upload the next time you fire up No Man’s Sky. Well, unless the update has already downloaded while your system has been in sleep mode, and if so, that’s half the job already done.
