Nintendo Switch drops final wave of free downloads you can grab now

Don't be filled with dread by missing these freebies

Following on from the exciting news that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is on the way in 2025, Nintendo has released some free downloads that will help celebrate the upcoming release.

If you are like me and love to customise your online profiles so you can annoy people with your hobbies at every angle then you must take advantage of these new free downloads for the Nintendo Switch.

Check out the extended trailer for Metroid Dread below!

Available for all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, Nintendo has released 20 profile pictures, backgrounds and frames relating to the much-loved Metroid Dread.

In our review of Metroid Dread back in 2021, we called it “every bit as good as the fans had hoped it would be, delivering a stunning conclusion that lays the groundwork for a very exciting future.

It's a masterfully executed, explosive action game that delivers on every level, and looks and feels exactly how a Metroid game should in 2021.”

If you were also a fan of Metroid Dread then you should take advantage of these free downloads that were made known courtesy of the NSO Icons Alerts Twitter account.

To access them, simply subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online service then head to its home page on your console. Once there, visit the ‘Missions & Rewards’ section and you will be able to view the freebies up for grabs.

The icons, backgrounds and frames range from five to ten Platinum Coins (Nintendo’s free currency) so they aren’t too expensive at all. So if you want to show off your beloved Samus to all of your friends then look no further.

Not only that but it will be the perfect way to fill the void until the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond releases some time in 2025.
