New 'Hogwarts Legacy' Trailer Shows PS5 Specific Features

The latest Hogwarts Legacy trailer has showcased a bunch of really cool immersive features, which will be exclusive to PS5.

Hogwarts Legacy is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated new games we have on the horizon, and for good reason - it’s really looking like everything fans have been dreaming of and more.

Earlier this year, when we were given our first proper look at the game in its own State of Play event, it was confirmed that we’ll be able to befriend students and magical creatures, fly around the vast open-world on our broomsticks, engage in duels, and much, much more. Now, as reported by VGC, we’ve just got a brand new trailer looking at some of the exclusive immersive features that those lucky PlayStation 5 owners out there will be able to experience when the title releases later this year.

Enough from me, take a look at the brand new trailer right here.

As you can see, the game seems like it’ll make great use of the DualSense controller and everything it has to offer - with haptic feedback being used to enhance the feeling of flight, the adaptive triggers utilised to take combat to the next level, and even the dynamic light bar brought into play by displaying your house colours, which is a really cool subtle touch (Ravenclaw have kind of drawn the short straw here, huh?). Not only that, but 3D audio will be available via built-in TV speakers or headphones, and, of course, the whole thing is topped off with stunning 4K visuals.

“Spells will feel unique when you cast them, thanks to haptic feedback providing a direct connection between the DualSense controller and your wand,” WB Games Avalanche’s community manager, Chandler Wood, wrote in a post on the PlayStation blog. “We’ve specifically isolated these effects to the right side of the controller to let the DualSense become an extension of the wand you hold in the game. And when you deflect a spell with Protego, you’ll feel the sizzling of the magic being reflected and absorbed by the Shield Charm."

“Adaptive triggers and haptic feedback aren’t just limited to spellcasting and wand work, however,” Wood continued. “The DualSense controller lets you feel a variety of events throughout the world, whether it’s crushing ingredients with a mortar and pestle in Potions class, feeling the screech of a Mandrake seedling, or flying through the skies on a broom or a Hippogriff. The DualSense is your connection to the magic on PS5.”

Hogwarts Legacy is currently set to release holiday 2022.
