Conker's Bad Fur Day needs a remake, fans say

Fans are calling for Conker's Bad Fur Day to get a modern remaster or remake - and one that isn't censored.

If you asked anyone to cast their mind back to Rare’s releases on the N64, most would probably think of the Banjo-Kazooie games. They were iconic 3D platformers, no doubt, but gamers are now calling for Conker’s Bad Fur Day to get some more love.

Conker’s Bad Fur Day originally released in 2001, and despite featuring a fluffy squirrel protagonist, it definitely wasn’t aimed at kids. Although some might argue that it’s a game you ‘just had to be there’ for, some fans on Reddit believe that the title should get a modern-day remaster.

Speaking of iconic N64 games, GoldenEye 007 is now available to play via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, or Xbox Game Pass.

“Original Bad Fur Day from the N64 should get remastered to today’s graphics or at least a HD upgrade,” clayman648 posted. “Agreed, this is one of my favourite games of all time. I miss it,” replied genericbrown. “100% agree, would be even better without some censorship,” added TheOfficialN0va. “Still love that game. Play it once in a while. A remaster would rock,” wrote Kawikami99336.

Of course, Bad Fur Day did already get a remake once, but that was on the original Xbox back in 2005, so enough time has passed by this point to justify another. Look, if The Last of Us can get a remaster in 2014 and then a remake in 2022, I’m sure that this would be reasonable.

It’s not that the game is impossible to play on modern consoles - it’s available as part of Rare Replay (which is free on Game Pass). However, as mentioned in the Reddit thread, both this version and the 2005 Xbox remake were censored - something which really didn’t go down well with fans at the time. If it ever did get a modern remake, that’s definitely something that many would like to see changed.
