Last month, the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power came to a close, and based on its ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s safe to say that while critics had a lot of love for it, fans weren’t nearly as convinced. You win some, you lose some.
Anyway, if the TV series format wasn’t really doing it for you, fear not. As Dexerto reports, some brand new LOTR movies could be on the horizon, almost 20 years after the release of The Return of the King.

During a Q3 earnings call, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, revealed that the company is planning on focusing on their ‘main’ franchises going forward: “We're going to have a real focus on franchises. We haven't had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven't done a Harry Potter movie in 15 years,” he said. “The DC movies and Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits of Warner Bros. Motion Pictures over the last 25 years.

“So a focus on franchise - one of the big advantages that we have, House of the Dragon, is an example of that, Game of Thrones, taking advantage of Sex and the City, Lord of the Rings - we still have the right to do Lord of the Rings movies," he continued. "What are the movies that have brands that are understood and loved everywhere in the world?"
All in all, it definitely sounds like we could be seeing a lot more of Middle-earth sometime soon. Regarding making more Harry Potter movies, Zaslav added that he’d be interested if “if we can do something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward”, so that’s not out of the picture, either.
