Insomniac Games have proved themselves to be masters of creating incredible superhero games. Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales are right up there as two of the best superhero-inspired games of all time. Virtually swinging through the streets of New York is the closest most of us will probably ever get to feeling like a superhero.

That being said, excitement feels like an understatement when it comes to my feelings on last year’s announcement of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Besides the announcement trailer, details on the game have been almost non-existent but a recent leak has offered some insight as to what we can expect.

Check out the trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 below.

A 4chan user posted the supposed leak after claiming to have seen an internal email thread between Insomniac employees. The user suggests that main missions will be played as either Miles or Peter, whilst side missions and free roaming gives you the option to choose between the two.

The post read, “Peter does a certain main mission and is knocked tf out, so the next mission is Miles checking on Peter, and then doing something for him. [...] Also, remember those moments where the game encouraged you to do sidequests while waiting for something to happen for the main quest, this game has more of that to encourage roaming as both characters.”

It also details a playable third character, but the identity of this character remains a mystery. The poster claims that this third character “cannot free roam” and has “a different playstyle that straight up kills people and uses smoke, projectiles, and a type of organic or artificial tentacle.” The 4chan user goes on to suggest it could be Yuri / Wraith or a black-suit Peter Parker. It sounds like it could also be Venom.

4chan has a mixed reputation when it comes to leaks. Some prove to be true, and others prove to be false so as with any rumour, this all must be taken with a pinch of salt until official details are unveiled by Insomniac. It all seems perfectly plausible though.
