Sony has had a major hit on their hands with the Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, which has pumped out two mainline games, and a Miles Morales spin-off.

Coming out of Insomniac Games, the titles have been hugely popular and brought us Spider-Man stories that feel authentic and grounded, while still giving us over-the-top comic book moments.

What's next for Marvel's Spider-Man and the possible third game?

Fans are now looking toward the third part of the inevitable trilogy and wondering what’s next for the series.

Some, giving voice to their thoughts on Reddit, believe that Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, whenever it emerges, could be Insomniac Games’ final game with the Marvel hero front and centre.

One fan speculates a few ways it could go, with one option being that the series ends with the third part.

In reply, Spider_Man01234 says, “I feel like it might, because Otto called it 'the final chapter' in the post-credit scene. I think we might get a spin-off for silk, and maybe 1 more miles-morales game, but the 'Spider-Man' title is probably gone after this.”

With this comment getting over 900 upvotes, the community thinks this could be a possibility.

Redditor ProjectCharming6992 reminds everyone, “There is Wolverine coming out that I think is supposed to be set in the same universe. Plus, they are also working on a Venom title in the same universe as well.”

It may very well end up that Spider-Man is put to one side as Insomniac Games expands their Marvel universe, pulling in other heroes before returning to Spidey at a later date.

Another fan is in agreement, saying, “I think it will be a soft goodbye. Meaning they will focus on other heros in this universe.”

There are plenty of stories to tell, and variants of Spider-Man, that the developers could focus on. As one hopeful fans says, “I would love to see a full Spider-Man 2099 game.

Personally, I’d love to see my favourite Spider-Man incarnation get a full, futuristic game.
