Just when you think players have found all that there is to see and discover in Hogwarts Legacy, something else is spotted. We’ll soon have fresh eyes on the game as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release is just around the corner on 5 May, followed by the Nintendo Switch launch on 25 July.

If you’re not up to date on all of Hogwarts Legacy’s hidden details, allow me to catch you up. Players have discovered a horrifying secret relating to the Room of Requirement, while one person managed to stumble across a rare open-world event after a whopping 140 hours. That’s not all. Players are just now finding that the transfiguration spell is far more advanced than they originally thought. You may also want to think twice before petting some of the game’s cats. On this occasion though, one player has found a grim detail relating to Hogwarts Legacy’s house elves.

PS1 Hagrid has made his way into Hogwarts Legacy. Take a look below.

As reported by GameRant, Reddit user unknown_soldier_ discovered that house elves don’t have the most hygienic of food preparation methods. On a trip down to Hogwarts’ kitchen, they found a house elf preparing meat by … stamping on it with their bare feet? That’s grim. They wrote, “There has to be a more sanitary way to tenderise meat than this.” You would think so.

In defence of the house elves, they are essentially slaves to the witches and wizards, so you can’t really blame them for sabotaging the food with a bit of dirty foot stamped in there. Virtual-Bandicoot-91 joked, “Deek thinks you should quit judging Hogwarts’ house elves and be grateful for your dinner,'' while jackkernaut added, “Deek is proud of the amount of germs you have collected.”

Others pointed out that this was likely a normal way of preparing food in the 1800s, although I can’t particularly find evidence of that. Briskbulb commented, “Just don’t ask the house elf working about the secret sauces.” That’s enough internet for one day.
