Two months on from Hogwarts Legacy’s release, and fans are still discovering new secrets in the game. You’d think that that’d be a good thing, but I’m sure I speak for us all when I say that some things - like this - would have been best kept hidden forever.
You’ve read the headline, and it very much is what it sounds like. One player on Reddit has discovered a rather unfortunate graphical glitch which left one poor house elf’s bare butt totally exposed. And yes, the devs modelled it in detail, for some reason.
Before we get into it, take a look at one of Hogwarts Legacy’s funniest mods starring PS1 Hagrid below.
The cursed image was posted to r/HarryPotterGame by user aLittleDarkOne with the caption: “Full moon at Hogwarts.” Fans in the thread aren’t quite sure what to do with the new-found knowledge that elf butts are a thing that the devs decided to include.
“Just wanted to throw this out there... that means someone at the art studio drew the short straw and had to take days or hours fully modelling Deek's ass cheeks and then take the time to render them. AND it was green lit by the studio to have an old ancient house [elf’s wrinkled] cheeks programmed. This had to be approved by so many people. Deek thinks you should be proud of how many cheeks you have modelled,” Wildefice wrote. “Good on the developers, looks like he's anatomically correct... Maybe I shouldn't be looking that closely at the pic though,” commented VonWoosen.

It’s not known what exactly caused this poor elf’s butt to pop out of his clothes - based on the screenshot, it looks like it just clipped through somehow. The house elves have it pretty rough in this game - for some reason, it’s also possible to mount the heads of dead elves in the Room of Requirement.
We’ll have to wait and see if this gets patched out by the devs, but given that someone went to the trouble of making sure each elf has defined butt cheeks in the first place, it doesn’t seem likely.
