Hogwarts Legacy fans surprised with new LEGO Harry Potter releasing next month

We're going back to Hogwarts, again

Yesterday wasn’t simply the first day of September, at least to Wizarding World fans.

The 1 September also marks Back To Hogwarts Day, a celebratory occasion to mark when the students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry would board the Hogwarts Express for a new school term.

Back To Hogwarts Day is an opportunity for fans to get together, as well as a day of announcements with fans filled in on what’s next for the franchise.

If you recall, it was during last year’s event that Hogwarts Legacy’s summer update was unveiled.

You may have been hoping that this year’s edition would’ve unveiled the game’s director’s cut given how many times it's already leaked online but alas, there remains no official word on that project.

Instead though, Wizarding World fans were treated to a video game announcement that was all the more surprising.

The LEGO Harry Potter Collection is being rereleased and will land on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles next month.

Don’t forget that Harry Potter Quidditch Champions launches tomorrow, on 3 September.

Releasing on 8 October, this will mark the first time that the LEGO Harry Potter Collection has natively been released on this generation’s consoles.

Previously, it was backwards compatible via the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions.

The collection includes all eight ‘years’ which is split across LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-8 - and that also includes an additional two previously released DLCs.

You’ll be pleased to know that this isn’t just a simple case of throwing the game onto new-gen consoles. It’s got a few new bells and whistles.

Developer Double Eleven has confirmed that the game will run at 60fps with native 4k resolution and high resolution shadow maps.

Haptic feedback has also been improved, particularly when it comes to the PS5’s DualSense controller.

It’ll set you back $39.99 at launch, or you can simply upgrade at a discounted rate if you already own the PlayStation 4/Xbox One version.

The upgrade price is yet to be confirmed but these things are typically around $10.

It’s worth pointing out that the PlayStation 4/Xbox One editions of the game are currently on sale for £5.24 on the PS Store and Xbox Store, respectively, until 11 September, so it may well be worth buying an existing edition and paying the upgrade fee to get a much cheaper deal.
