Award-winning RPG Eternal Sonata has now received an unofficial PC port developed by fans after nearly 20 years of being exclusive to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Available via Goopie Launcher, a special client specifically for fan-made recompilations of Xbox 360 games, the game has now arrived on PC with its own set of platform-specific features for players to take advantage of.
Built and tested based on the PAL version of the Xbox 360 game, players who own their original copies can use it to play this updated version, which features improved visuals and performance compared to the Xbox 360.
Developed by fans, the Eternal Sonata PC port features a configurable resolution up to 4K, going far beyond the upscaled 1080p that the original had. It also features an adaptive unlocked framerate, allowing you to hit higher frames-per-second than the 30fps on console.

The port also features keyboard and mouse controls right off the bat, with configuration permitted to allow you to change these keys to whatever suits you.
As far as we can tell, these new controls are implemented quite well, but controller support also exists if you’d rather go with that.
Some additional features included in the port bring along skippable dialogues to the game, allowing you to bypass any lengthy cutscenes or conversations if you’d rather cut to the chase (or if you’re like me, and your reading speed is faster than the spoken words).

There’s also Discord Rich Presence, a feature that displays your current game activity on Discord for your followers to see.
Modding support is also available, meaning that the community can continue to work on updating and improving the game with new features further down the line.
You can download Eternal Sonata's PC port via Goopie Launcher. Make sure you also have your original Xbox 360 copy as well.

Eternal Sonata was one of the best JRPGs you could play on a console in 2008
Eternal Sonata was one of the most popular JRPGs of its time, receiving plenty of glowing reviews in 2007 along with having a major presence at several awards ceremonies.
It won GameTrailers’ award for Best Role-Playing Game at E3 2007, as well as IGN’s award for Best Original Score on Xbox 360. It was also a runner-up in Best RPG, Best Artistic Design on Xbox 360, and Best Use of Sound on Xbox 360 for IGN.
Elsewhere, it was nominated at the Spike Video Game Awards for Best RPG, but lost to Mass Effect. It would later lose again to Mass Effect in 2008 at the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, where it was a runner-up for Role-Playing Game of the Year.
Developed by tri-Crescendo, a Japanese developer which has co-developed RPGs with Monolith Soft, Level-5, and Bandai Namco, Eternal Sonata is based on the life of Frédéric Chopin, a real-life composer who died of tuberculosis at age 39.
The game chronicles Chopin’s journey through a fictional world that he dreams of on his deathbed, which features themes and imagery inspired by his life and music.
It's fondly remembered for its music, which uses real compositions made by Chopin during his life, performed by Stanislav Bunin, as well as a beautiful original score by Motoi Sakuraba.
