Halo fans are eating good this year, because a new project for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to drop in the not-so-distant future, which will feature an entirely new campaign set around the events of Halo: Reach.

Although we’ve been treated to a bunch of new Halo content in 2025, we’ve yet to hear anything about a mainline follow-up to 2021’s Halo Infinite.

Sure, we got that Fortnite crossover event, and the Helldivers 2 gear, and there’s another book on the way… but I think most fans just want to jump into a new Halo campaign.

Luckily for them, we’re being treated to exactly that, and it’s called Halo: Reach - Verdant Vale.

Don’t let the title fool you however, as Verdant Vale is actually an upcoming mod for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which, according to the mod creators, has been “built from the ground up using the same tools and pipelines Bungie used to build the campaign of Halo: Reach”.

The project is being led by a modder known as Ki11aFTW (that's the most Halo-lobby ass name I've ever seen in my life), alongside FORTRESS WORLD.

As Ki11aFTW revealed over on the ModDB page for Verdant Vale, the new campaign is playable in both solo and four player co-op, and will even feature a custom soundtrack composed by Neo Te Aika. You can also listen to some of Neo Te Aika’s tracks for the campaign ahead of time over on their Bandcamp page too.

As Ki11aFTW explains, Verdant Vale was inspired by scrapped concept art for Halo: Reach, which they used as the basis for the new campaign (hence, why the mod is titled "Halo: Reach - Verdant Vale").

You’ll probably be waiting a while before you get your hands on it however, as there’s no current release date in sight for Verdant Vale. Considering the scope of the project, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve got a long wait for this one too.

In the meantime, the team behind the mod has released a trailer that shows off some of the new locations, and a taster of some of the enemies you’ll be running into during the course of the campaign.

Either way, I highly doubt that Microsoft is gonna release a new Halo game before this ends up dropping, so it would seem that, for the time being at least, that Verdant Vale is going to be the closest thing to a new campaign that we’re going to get for quite some time.
