Spooky season is well underway, which means it’s prime time for enjoyers of the horror genre. Last week, The Midnight Club hit Netflix, and its first episode broke the world record for the amount of jump scares in a single episode of TV, which is reason enough for me to never attempt watching it.
Today (14 October) marks the release of Halloween Ends in cinemas - the slasher is the 13th movie in the Halloween franchise, and the conclusion of the trilogy that began in 2018 with Halloween (which is the third movie in the franchise to be called that, confusingly). As reported by We Got This Covered though, the film has been going down less than spectacularly with fans and critics.
Take a look at the trailer for Halloween Ends right here.
At the time of writing, over on Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a rather unimpressive audience score of 60%. Sure, it’s not the worst, but compared to the original Halloween (1978), which boasts an audience score of 89%… yeah. It’s not exactly anything to write home about. Unfortunately, the critic score is currently even worse at 45%. Again, to compare, Halloween (1978) has over double this score, at 96%. Clearly, there’s no beating that one.

Although its ratings are pretty disappointing, the Halloween franchise has seen far, far worse in the past. Halloween: Resurrection has a pitiful 25% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and a shockingly low 10% critic rating. Believe it or not, that’s not even the lowest-rated film of the bunch - although Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers has a slightly more generous audience rating (it’s 37%, so don’t get too excited), its critic score is much lower at just 9%. Things could only really go up from there, I guess.
Even if Halloween Ends isn’t the best, some people might still choose to watch it over Terrifier 2, which has apparently made some audiences throw up and pass out - it’s certainly not for the faint of heart.
