GTA 6 new trailer confirms major Red Dead Redemption connection

Rockstar Games fans are connecting the dots in the most recent GTA VI trailer which could confirm a connection with Red Dead Redemption.

We’re now less than a year away from the release of Rockstar Games’ next entry in its Grand Theft Auto series (not that I’m counting down the days or anything), and as that day draws ever nearer, the hype continues to mount.

On 6 May 2025, Rockstar Games released the second trailer for GTA VI, sending fans wild. GTA VI trailer two was nothing short of a beauty, and now, we cannot wait for its third trailer, whenever that time might come.

If you’ve been following news on GTA VI, then the chances are that you’d be aware that fans have been analysing every aspect of its trailers and a recent connection found looks to have links with Red Dead Redemption.

“It looks like GTA VI and Red Dead Redemption 2 might be in the same universe,” suggested mhu99.

The Redditor shared images of weapons from the GTA VI trailer and Red Dead Redemption 2, which featured ‘Duke’, a gunsmith from Rockstar Games' Wild West entries.

It might mean absolutely nothing, but it seems like it could be too much of a coincidence, and Duke branding appearing in both of Rockstar Games’ most popular properties seems to confirm a universe connection.

“It'll probably be like GTA V and RDR2 - loosely referenced with no real significance beyond that,” claimed atomicitalian.

“Loosely is a bit of an understatement, no?” replied Lewis-1230. “Like, there are probably 30 - 50 RDR details in GTA. It seems too convenient and planned out.”

“Here's something that debunks this. There are a lot of brands that are shared between GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA V", explained yeetskeetleet. “Sprunk and Binco are two examples. The PS2 and PS3 games are not in the same universe and have been officially confirmed as such.”

No doubt, fans will continue to discover cool secrets leading up to the release of GTA VI and beyond.
