Grand Theft Auto VI is officially due to launch this year, landing on 19 November. I wish I could say that statement filled me with excitement, but I recall saying something similar this time last year ahead of the hotly anticipated title’s two delays.
The problem is that I don’t think many of us are going to rid fears pertaining to a third delay from our minds until those pre-orders drop. That’ll feel like a surefire sign that Rockstar Games is committing to its announced plans.
At the present time though, no such pre-orders have been unveiled; heck, we haven’t even seen raw gameplay for GTA 6. Certainly, the game’s second trailer reportedly consisted of 50% gameplay, but it was presented via a cinematic lens.
Many of us yearn to see unedited combat and exploration, UI intact. Plenty of GTA 6's announcements have coincided with Take-Two Interactive earnings calls, the parent company of Rockstar Games.

The next earnings call is scheduled for 5 February so perhaps we’ll get an update then. In the meantime, all we have is the word of Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson who claims that GTA VI will not be subjected to a third delay.

One Insider Has Assured Fans There Won’t Be a Further Delay
On Insider Gaming Weekly, Henderson said, “I think Rockstar are confident enough now that it will release this year.”
“GTA VI will release this year but will cause temporary issues with internet infrastructure,” he later added, whatever that refers to.
Tom Henderson has a somewhat decent track record although that track record mainly can be attributed to the breaking of embargoes, so I can’t exactly say how reliable or legit his Rockstar Games source is.
As always, until Rockstar Games pushes forwards with something akin to pre-orders, I think all assurances of no further delays have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
It looks as if that’s what fans are already doing with delay fears still affecting the fanbase.
“I’ll believe it when I’m playing it,” said Reddit user OkCalligrapher7721 in a thread on Henderson’s report.
“GTA VI will get my attention when it’s installing,” added Bread-But-Toasted.
“When a date is solidified, it will become available for pre-order on consoles. I don’t care about speculation,” remarked FlintBeastGood.
Alongside this, Henderson also published that he’s of the belief that GTA VI will cost gamers $80, adding that a $100 deluxe version will also be available.
That’s certainly not cheap, but it’s not as bad as many were expecting, if true.
For months, $100 has been thrown around as the baseline figure, so an $80 price point is on par with the ever-increasing industry standard.
Of course, do keep that pinch of salt handy. Let’s hope Rockstar Games offers something more concrete soon.
