Rockstar Games is yet to respond, but Grand Theft Auto VI remains at the centre of a major leak and ransom attack.
A group by the name of CyberLeek recently began posting clips of GTA VI online, claiming to be fighting for protections concerning the future of the games industry.
CyberLeek released “three commandments,” adding, “If CyberLeek targets a publisher, it is because that publisher broke one,” making it clear that Rockstar Games is just the first target.
Those commandments are “thou shalt not sell digital pre-orders,” "thou shalt not sell fake single-player DLC," and "thou shalt preserve single-player content”.

GTA VI has, of course, sold digital pre-orders, and CyberLeek has released several gameplay clips in retaliation, revealing tons of new features, as well as a full look at the game’s map.
CyberLeek’s website appears to be have been taken down, but it may resurface
At the time of writing, CyberLeek’s website is unavailable, displaying a ‘502 Bad Gateway’ error; there’s no word on whether this is the group’s own doing or whether Take-Two Interactive has managed to shut the website down.
With that in mind, there’s no saying whether this saga is over or if CyberLeek will rear its head once again very soon.
That does feel likely as just before the website was taken down, CyberLeek was posting fresh threats.
It was running a poll, a paid one in fact, asking which “cinematic drive by” it should leak next, with the options being “car (day)”, “car (night)”, “motorcycle (night)”, and “plane (day)”.
Prior to this, however, internet users reported seeing a file on the CyberLeek website titled “GTA 6: Lucia Ending Video” prompting fears that CyberLeek has access to a complete build of the game, even if it may be a few months or even years old.
This has to be taken with a hefty pinch of salt. The first hurdle to this leak saga was differentiating between real footage and AI slop released to cash in on the attention.
We’re now seeing copycats surface. One copycat appeared in a Discord server with supposed information pertaining to a currency within GTA VI that linked to real life.
CyberLeek later put out a statement saying, “We only operate an official website and this Telegram channel,” dismissing any copycats.
No one has been able to verify whether CyberLeek group is indeed in possession of Lucia’s ending, though.
While the screenshot of the supposed file did surface on Discord, which CyberLeek does not use, the screenshot itself is made to look as if it was taken from the group’s website.
Someone could have doctored the screenshot; hence our advising you to take all of this with a hefty pinch of salt.

GTA 6’s ending leaking would be a dark day for the games industry
We hope, for everyone’s sake, that the group does not possess the game’s ending; CyberLeek is trying to punish Rockstar Games, but that would undoubtedly punish gamers by spoiling the narrative.
As such, there’s plenty of anxiety online.
“Imagine the game got delayed again cuz Rockstar needs to change the ending for that mf,” said one Twitter/X user.
“The first kind of leak that I’m in opposition of,” added another.
It’s looking far more likely that this is the work of another copycat, as there was no bragging from CyberLeek about the supposed file; it seems a bit random for a lone screenshot to surface.
Of course, I can’t imagine that’s going to make Rockstar Games rest easy. Even if this is a false alarm, even just contemplating the game’s ending leaking is enough to send anxiety through anyone related to the project.
It would truly be a devastating day for the industry, developers and gamers alike.
Our next official glimpse at Grand Theft Auto VI comes during next week’s Netflix special, An Extended Look, which airs on August 27 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST / 9pm CEST.
