GTA 6: An Extended Look on Netflix confirms new trailer, how to watch for free, and runtime

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on November 19, with Rockstar Games recently unveiling when we can next catch a glimpse of the title.

Both the Standard and Ultimate Edition of GTA VI have been available to pre-order for quite some time with the former setting you back £69.99 / $79.99 and the latter £89.99 / $99.99.

Plenty of gamers have already placed their pre-orders, but that’s a pretty brave thing to do considering we haven’t seen much in the way of gameplay.

That’ll soon change as on August 27, Rockstar Games recently announced that it will team up with Netflix to launch GTA VI: An Extended Look - and in the days since, all the additional information you need to know has landed.

What time will GTA VI: An Extended Look premiere?

GTA VI: An Extended Look is set to launch simultaneously worldwide on August 27 at 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST / 9pm CEST.

It’s not yet known whether the special will arrive as a live streamed event or a regular special; you cannot skip ahead in the former, but you can in the latter.

How long is GTA VI: An Extended Look due to run for?

Get hyped because we’re getting so much more than a three-minute-long trailer this time around.

According to a Netflix customer support agent, as shared by Reddit user ZamnBoil, GTA VI: An Extended Look is expected to run for 20 minutes.

“The showcase will last approximately 20 minutes,” they said. It’s not known whether this was a real customer service agent or an AI chatbot so it’s worth taking with a pinch of salt.

It’s hard to think of a reason though as to why Netflix’s own chat would spread misinformation.

How to watch GTA VI: An Extended Look for free?

Money can be tight in today’s economy so if you’re not already a Netflix subscriber, you may not wish to fork out on a subscription just to watch GTA VI’s special.

Of course, you can potentially make use of free trial periods.

You can also watch GTA VI: An Extended Look for free very easily. You just need to have a smidge of patience.

GTA VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel six hours after it initially premieres on Netflix.

That means it’ll be viewable for free from 6pm PT / 9pm ET on August 27 in the US and 2am BST / 3am CEST on August 28 in Europe.

Chances are the contents of the special will be plastered all over social media by then but if you want to hold off until the video drops on Rockstar’s channel, we recommend going on a six-hour social media blackout.

What will GTA VI: An Extended Look include?

Well, we’re definitely getting another trailer as Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick cannot stop mentioning it.

Speaking to IGN, Zelnick said, “I think Rockstar felt that a Netflix release would be a great way to show off the extended trailer.”

He continued, “Well, as you'd imagine, I'm only going to say great things about Netflix. If you're not a Netflix subscriber, you definitely should be one. And as for the trailer itself, it's coming soon enough that I'll let you arrive at your own conclusion. I'm sure you're going to watch it because everyone is.”

That’s about as much as we know about the special’s contents.

It’s perhaps not a stretch to speculate that the special might open with a traditional ‘trailer 3’ before delving into the game’s gameplay, story, and more.

Will GTA VI: An Extended Look mention multiplayer or GTA Online’s successor?

While nothing has been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games, Jason Schreier recently said that the studio is not planning on talking about GTA VI’s online component “anytime soon”, so it likely won’t come up.

That being said, it can’t be ruled out that the existing GTA Online won’t be mentioned. For quite some time now, fans have predicted that a ‘final DLC’ may be dropped, leading into GTA VI.

This would be the perfect time to announce such a DLC, but this is purely speculative.

We know just as little about GTA VI’s PC port. It likely won’t be announced as Rockstar Games has a history of launching PC ports at least one year after a game’s original launch.
