The price of GTA VI was always going to be a point of contention.
For a game as massive, complex and, frankly, highly anticipated as it is, it would be little surprise to see Rockstar dial up the base retail price for the standard version of the game to a level we haven't seen anywhere else.
Would they be right to do so? Well, that's a different question, and it's one that continues to divide members of the community who are already counting the days to the game's release.
Over on Reddit, one user posted their thoughts on the matter, claiming that they would pay $120 for GTA VI, if the game were to be that price on release, and it's safe to say the community is very unsure of that number.

"That’s not the point… we don’t wanna pay 1/4th of our console on ONE game (in some cases like 1/3). Comments and such like this is why eventually games are gonna be standard at like $150 because mindless consumers will just [say] oh well it’ll be worth. GTA VI could be life altering… doesn’t mean it’ll be ok or that we’ll WANT to spend THAT much," one read.
Others pointed to the different salaries across the world as another reason that a $100+ price tag would be unfeasible for many. "I wouldn't simply because I can't afford it. A 120 game would imply by conversion literally half of the minimum wage of my country," one said.
Others fear what it may me for video game pricing in the industry at large, with another saying, "It seems you're missing the entire point here. The issue isn't with Rockstar taking more money for their game, it's a HUGE, well developed game, and the biggest title there is. The issue here is that IF rockstar does that, the rest will follow suit even though their product is NOWHERE NEAR in overall experience."
A final group of players just want conversations around the price of the game to stop entirely. "Guys, stop talking about it, really. If Rockstar will raise the price from 70$, it's your fault people, because you showed them that they can. Just don't talk. Ignore this stupid topic. Talk about story, map and activities of the game, the interesting part," one said

Whatever does happen, all will likely be forgiven on the price if Rockstar Games manage to turn out the product that everyone is expecting.
If they don't, well then the pricing will likely be the least of their worries, particularly with the size of the audience the game is set to attract.
