GTA 6 gamers given 'I told you so' warning after CyberLeek reaches endgame

CyberLeek’s reign of GTA VI leaks appears to be coming to an end following Rockstar Games’ GTA VI ‘Extended Look’, with fans issuing a ‘told you so’ warning as the search for the infamous hacker or hacking group continues.

Last week, Rockstar Games unveiled the GTA VI: An Extended Look on Netflix, delivering almost 30 minutes of new gameplay from the highly anticipated next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. The extensive footage gave fans their biggest look yet at GTA VI ahead of its November launch.

But weeks before the official GTA VI reveal, CyberLeek made headlines by releasing a huge amount of pre-release GTA VI gameplay footage online. The infamous hacker or hacking group appeared intent on disrupting Rockstar Games’ carefully planned marketing campaign, while claiming its actions were motivated by opposition to the game being released as a digital-only title.

Now, we’re a week on from the GTA VI ‘Extended Look’ gameplay reveal, and it might be safe to assume that CyberLeek’s reign has finally come to an end. But, like any good Hollywood movie villain, it might be wise for Rockstar Games to keep one eye open until GTA VI’s launch is well underway.

Throughout CyberLeek’s campaign of GTA VI leaks, the infamous hacker or hacking group was also promoting and selling a cryptocurrency, causing many gamers to question their true motives. Was CyberLeek’s intention genuinely to teach Rockstar Games a lesson, or was the entire operation ultimately about selling crypto? Only CyberLeek knows the answer for sure.

“CyberLeek is finished,” declared the X (formerly Twitter) account GTA 6 Countdown.

“The coin lost 96% of its value following the GTA VI ‘Extended Look’, and the group has apparently cashed out nearly $270k they made from trading fees. Take-Two remains on the hunt for the group, but no one knows if they’ll ever catch them.”

GTA 6 fans have their say on CyberLeek’s leaks

“That was the reason why you should never support illegal activities,” replied Mrduckie88.

“Scamming his own community and vanishing into thin air,” added rentableenmerde. “The guy is already living in Vice City while we're still waiting.”

“It is clear that he intended to suck money out of gamers' wallets, not to stand with gamers,” claimed mindscapeglctic.

It remains to be seen whether or not CyberLeek will return before the launch of GTA VI, but if so, what else could they leak? Perhaps the game's ending or, further down the line, GTA Online-related content? Only time will tell. As always, we’ll keep you posted.

Grand Theft Auto VI will be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the time of writing, the PC launch hasn't been officially announced by Rockstar Games.
