GTA 6 Trailer 3 Leaves Gamers Divided

When will Rockstar show gameplay?

The third trailer for GTA 6 has left fans divided, with some unable to agree on what will be shown next.

Rockstar Games has currently released two trailers for Grand Theft Auto 6, along with a bunch of screenshots and a release date. However, there's still so much we don't know about the game yet.

For starters, fans are desperate to see some actual gameplay. It's almost certain that what we've seen so far amounts to in-engine footage, but what we really need to see is how this thing actually plays.

One fan of the series over on the GTA 6 Reddit page has posted their theory that the next trailer for the game won't just feature cutscenes and in-engine pre-rendered footage, but rather some actual gameplay.

"We all saw that the communication for GTA VI has been way different from the past ones," their post reads. "No one was expecting 70 screenshots alongside with trailer 2… I have a feeling that we could get something else than just a simple trailer. This is only my opinion and let’s see what awaits us in a few weeks."

One comment agreed with the sentiment, writing: "More screenshots around Christmas and gameplay trailer in January."

Others disagreed though, with one writing: "Too early for that IMO - I think they’ll just give us two character trailers for J&L and another website update."

"The marketing hasn't been any different in terms of style or timing," another wrote, offering a different perspective. "The website and 70 screenshots, I think, align with this being the biggest game of all time. and is simply exaggeration of how Rockstar usually markets their games. There isn't anything to read into here for me."

Honestly, at this point I really feel like anything goes. Rockstar released its first trailer back in December 2023 with a rough release window of 2025. It then maintained radio silence for over a year until it announced a delay to 26th May 2026 along with a second trailer and some screenshots earlier this year.

It's definitely possible we'll see a new trailer before the end of the year, and hopefully it'll give us a clearer idea of what to expect in terms of gameplay. This could also be when Rockstar begins taking pre-orders, too.

There are some fears that Rockstar will delay the game again, however there has been no substantial evidence which suggests this will be the case. As it stands, GTA 6 is still on track to be released on 26th May, 2026.
