Great news for believers and terrible news for doubters this morning, because Rockstar Games’ parent company just issued an official statement saying that Grand Theft Auto VI is very much on track for its targeted release date.
It’s everyone’s favourite time of the year again, because Take-Two Interactive just held its 2025 Virtual Annual Shareholder Meeting.
Now, I know you’re going to think that sounds extremely boring, and you’re correct, but those of you looking forward to playing Grand Theft Auto VI next year may want to take a second to traverse all of the corpo speak.
As spotted by Rockstar Intel's Aaron Trueman, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick did briefly mention during the meeting that Rockstar Games is still on track to deliver GTA VI on May 26, 2026.

“As we bring our exciting lineup to market, including Grand Theft Auto VI in Fiscal 2027, we expect to achieve record levels of Net Bookings that will establish a new baseline for our business and set us on a path of enhanced profitability”, Zelnick revealed to Take-Two’s shareholders.
Don’t freak out if you read “Fiscal 2027” and assumed that means GTA VI has been delayed even further, because this is just corporate jargon.
In this context, Take-Two’s 2026 fiscal year will bleed over into 2027. In short, they are referring to profits made in 2026… the year in which GTA VI is still projected to release.
Over on GTA 6 Countdown’s Tweet detailing the news, fans are certain that this means we could be getting a third trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI very, very soon.

“The last time they said that a few days later, a trailer came out”, commented user @gasparini_61267.
“We’re 100% getting something before the end of 2025”, replied user @ShadePJ.
Of course the real question is, how much can we actually trust Strauss Zelnick’s comments here?
Personally… don’t put too much stock in them.

Zelnick stated something very similar during a different shareholder meeting mere weeks before Rockstar Games announced that GTA VI had been delayed until May 2026.
At that point in time, GTA VI was roughly seven months away from its original release date, and we’re roughly eight months away at this point.
I think we shouldn’t start getting truly excited about that May 26 release date until we reach December. If we make it through the entirety of 2025 without Rockstar Games making an announcement, then I think we’re safe to assume the best.
