Rockstar Games just revealed that they’ve added an exciting new feature to the Rockstar Games Launcher, seemingly in preparation for the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI.
If you haven’t heard of the Rockstar Games Launcher, then I’d wager that you play all of your games on console.
The PC-specific launcher is, as the name implies, a program that lets (or rather forces) you play all of your Rockstar Games titles from a single, centralised app.
So, for instance, if you were to purchase Grand Theft Auto V through Steam, the game would still require you to boot up the Rockstar Games Launcher before you can actually play it.

There are upsides for the consumer where launchers are concerned, but publishers are mostly just interested in forcing them on consumers for extra profit. For instance, if you buy a Rockstar Games title through Steam, Valve gets a cut. But if you purchase it through the Rockstar Games Launcher… well, I’m sure you can figure out the rest.
But what does all of this have to do with Grand Theft Auto VI?
As spotted by Tez2 (via Rockstar Intel), the Rockstar Games Launcher just received a fun little update.
Said update now allows Rockstar Games’ users to take advantage of Discord's “Rich Presence” feature, which has been fully integrated into their launcher.

The Rich Presence feature on Discord is pretty straightforward; when you play specific games that have Rich Presence integration, Discord will display more specific information regarding the game through your profile.
For instance, if you were playing a game online, Discord may state exactly which lobby you’re in or what type of game mode you’re playing (with the intention being that friends can drop in on what you’re doing).
Considering that Rockstar Games has decided to do this now, just ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI’s release, it more than implies that this is a sort of test run for their upcoming game.
Of course, Grand Theft Auto VI doesn’t currently have a release date on PC (which is the only platform on which you can access Rockstar Games Launcher).

Perhaps this also implies that Rockstar Games is hard at work on the PC port of the game? They’re obviously intending to launch the game on PC eventually, but perhaps this means that the port is a little closer than we may have assumed.
That’s just a theory however, and we should probably wait until the game is confirmed to meet its current release date before then…
