When it comes to keeping fans updated on development for its upcoming game, Rockstar prefers the more silent approach.
After all, there is just over eight months to go until Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch and so far, we have only received two cinematic trailers and an official website to flick through.
With no confirmation of map-size, no gameplay trailers or even an update on if we are still on track for a May 2026 release, being excited for Grand Theft Auto VI is hard work.
However, for the first time since the second trailer was released back in May, Rockstar has finally broken its silence by posting a new job listing online.

In a job listing searching for a lead software engineer in Rockstar New York, the description featured two very exciting notes.
The first is that the listing calls Grand Theft Auto VI “the largest game launch in history”.
It is safe to say that fans already assumed that but hearing it straight from Rockstar is a different kettle of fish entirely.
Secondly, eagle-eyed fans will notice something strange with the following paragraph: “With the continued growth of Grand Theft Auto Online and the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the successful candidate will lead both the evolution and operation of the data platform supporting what will be the largest game launch in history, ensuring it scales to deliver an exceptional experience for millions of players worldwide.“

This is the first time that Rockstar has referred to Grand Theft Auto VI as ‘Grand Theft Auto 6’ rather than with the roman numerals.
However, at the time of writing, Rockstar has officially edited the job listing and has removed any such mention of GTA VI.
So was this an error by the employee who wrote the job listing or is there something else to it?
Either way, there is still no denying that GTA VI will be the biggest game launch of all time with Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive previously stating that the game is “the most anticipated entertainment property of all time”.

Additionally, according to data firm Newzoo, Grand Theft Auto VI will completely “reshape” the console business with the Rockstar title set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
With just eight months to go until we finally get our hands on the highly anticipated games, providing there are no further delays, the excitement is palpable and we can hardly wait to see what Rockstar has been working on all this time.
