There's little doubt that Grand Theft Auto VI is going to be one of the biggest and most ambitious games ever to hit the market.
Rockstar's epic has had hundreds of people working on it for years, and the production costs for the release are guaranteed to be astronomical.
As such, it's a fairly safe assumption that the game is also going to cost a fair bit when it does finally come out, hopefully on schedule in May. What exactly that price is going to be is unclear, but there has been plenty of speculation that it could be the first game to go beyond £100/$100 for just the standard edition.
These rumours were furthered recently by the news that a Swiss retailer has listed the game at 99 Swiss Francs, or around $112 at the time of writing.

That news then made it over to Reddit, where players slammed the listed price, as well as portions of the community who have been loudly admitting that they'll pay just about anything to get their hands on GTA VI.
"You guys gotta stop saying you'll buy GTA VI at any price, otherwise that $100 bullshit will really come to be!! Take 2 for sure is aware of this nonsense and probably considering this price tag!" one post read.
The comments underneath were predictably divided, with one fearing what it meant for the wider industry as a whole, saying "$100 for GTA VI isn't an issue by itself imo. It feels worth it. But what it WILL do is set a precedent, and other studios will follow suit and bump up their unpolished buggy game launches to $100 And THAT is the reason I agree with you OP."
"Do not feed into the corporations' beliefs that people will buy their product at any price. All you'll be doing is pushing the poor people out from enjoying the only form of entertainment we really have left," another added.

Others were much more sanguine about the prospect, with many believing that it just won't be that price. "It's not happening. It'll never happen. Maybe the 1 million people in the server would pay that price, but the other 199 million people who watched the trailer might not. The parents who's kids are begging them to buy it for them might not," one read.
Without official word from Rockstar on the game's price, the mythical triple digit tag will remain speculation, but with the full game hopefully arriving in May, they're going to have to let us know pretty soon.
