GTA 6 Pre-Order Price Isn’t As Bad as We Thought

It looks like GTA VI’s pre-order pricing may not have been as bad as we thought, but is still aiming to be quite high.

Following Rockstar Games’ second delay of Grand Theft Auto VI back in November, many people’s attention has turned to the other hot topic surrounding this game: just how is it going to cost?

In the last generation, we’ve seen game prices go up from around $60 brand new, to $70 and even $80 in some cases. The prices keep going up, and it appears to be locking out gamers who are on a tight budget.

To make matters worse, some analysts and players have predicted that Rockstar may go one step further, and be the first company to charge $100 for a base game when it releases GTA VI.

This would obviously be a pretty huge blow to anyone who can’t afford it, considering games are already quite expensive as they are, with the additional element of GTA VI being one of the most highly anticipated video games ever.

Thankfully, that price point is now believed to not be as bad as we previously thought, thanks to comments made by Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson on the Insider Gaming Weekly podcast.

Speaking around the 52 minute mark, Henderson predicted that GTA VI would launch at $80, similar to Nintendo’s strategy of releasing the much-awaited Mario Kart World last year at the same price.

Grand Theft Auto VI Will Probably Have Very Expensive Special Editions

Meanwhile, one of Henderson’s co-hosts, Mike Straw, also predicted more expensive editions of the game priced at $100, $130, and also a collector’s edition that will cost around $300. These versions will probably have additional content, like extra cosmetics, in-game cash, and exclusive vehicles.

It’s important to note that these are simply predictions, and we don’t actually know what Rockstar will be charging for GTA VI until it makes an official announcement.

As for when that could be, I’d imagine pre-orders will become available towards the end of spring or early summer, once Rockstar knows it can lock in on that 19 November release date.

Meanwhile, Henderson says he believes Rockstar is confident in being able to hit the November release date, putting our fears of a third delay to rest.

The game was originally supposed to release sometime in 2025, but this was delayed to May 2026.

It received a second delay in November, landing on the final release date of 19 November, 2026.
