We’ve made it to 2026 folks, and you know what that means. We’re officially in the launch year of Grand Theft Auto VI… again.

GTA 6 launches in November provided Rockstar Games doesn’t delay it again, and if it does I don’t think the online community is going to cope very well. Let’s think positive though, GTA VI is definitely coming out this year, no doubt about it...

We’ve still got a long wait ahead of us though and if you’re looking for something to play in the meantime you’ve got a lot of options, but let me make one suggestion.

Grand Theft Auto: Carcer City is a fan-made expansion mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and God damn it I might be more excited for this than GTA VI.

Widely known to be one of the best Grand Theft Auto games ever made, GTA: San Andreas is still as fun now as it was back in the day, though of course the graphics aren’t as impressive as they used to be. While this mod doesn’t do the visuals any favours it does make one of Rockstar Games’ other open-worlds, Carcer City, playable in a Grand Theft Auto game.

For those who don’t know Carcer City is the setting of the Rockstar game, Manhunt, and is arguably one of the most dangerous cities ever created for a video game.

MANHUNT-

Grand Theft Auto isn’t short of crime-infested locations but Carcer City takes it to darker levels, and there are even references to it within various Grand Theft Auto games, suggesting they take place in the same universe.

This conversion mod for GTA: San Andreas makes it an explorable location for those who dare to set foot there.

To see and learn more you can check out the trailer for the mod online, and it’s clear that a lot of work has gone into recreating the lesser known Rockstar Games location within Grand Theft Auto.

At the time of writing it’s not playable yet but a free demo will be made available on 9 March, for PC of course.

Best to dive in quickly when it launches because we’re expecting it to be swiftly taken down by Take-Two Interactive, despite the company making no efforts to bring back Manhunt or any other series from Rockstar Games.

So mark your calendars and book yourself a holiday to Carcer City before GTA 6 drops, if you dare.
