GTA 6 gameplay confirms brutal police chases, brace yourselves

Wanted dead or alive!

GTA VI looks to have a brutal police wanted system that will be utter carnage.

It doesn't matter which entry in the Grand Theft Auto series it is, the ‘wanted system’ gameplay mechanic is always fun.

Depending on the severity of your wanted level, you’ll either have low-level cops chasing after you or the military with helicopters and tanks, as you scrabble desperately trying to survive the onslaught.

My fondest memories of the ‘wanted system’ implemented by Rockstar Games was in 2004’s GTA: San Andreas, especially after acquiring the epic jetpack from Area 51. Good times!

However, to no surprise whatsoever, the wanted system in the upcoming GTA VI looks like it's gonna take the mayhem to another level, as discussed by fans on Reddit.

“I just realised that this part of the trailer is showing off the new Wanted System. The cops must not have a description of the suspect, so they just drive by Jason and Lucia here, who are fleeing the scene of the crime the cops are headed to,” speculated clevererest_username.

“In one of the leaks, when Jason and Lucia are robbing the diner, as they are about to leave, you can see a little message pop up at the top saying that the cops have a full description of the vehicle they used to get away, so there could very well be a new element to the wanted system,” replied OrganizationNo203.

“It’s gonna be like none we've seen before,” declared Twoocents.

“It could be a dynamic police system where they respond to emergencies,” suggested AH_Med086.

“Very Similar to Red Dead Redemption 2. Witness, search, hunt, cooldown, evade,” mentioned Raj_rayz_iii.

We can’t wait to see exactly how the new ‘wanted system’ works when Grand Theft Auto VI releases on 26 May 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. That’s assuming it suffers no further delays.
