GTA: San Andreas fans have learned about an alternate opening sequence in the classic title from Rockstar Games.

For many fans of Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto series, 2004’s GTA: San Andreas may be the best pick of the bunch, which is saying something considering the quality of games this franchise has delivered since its inception in 1997.

“Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas... a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption,” reads the synopsis of the Rockstar Games title. “Where film stars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.”

“Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.”

At the beginning of the game, we’re introduced to CJ at the Liberty City airport before he takes a taxi to Los Santos during the opening cinematic sequence. We’re then stopped by Officers Tenpenny (Samuel L. Jackson) and Pulaski (Chris Penn), and without giving too much away, CJ’s new hell begins.

After this unpleasant interaction with the not-so-law-abiding police officers, CJ is then prompted to return to his home in Grove Street, however, there is a different choice that players can make.

“What's your favourite fun fact or facts about GTA: San Andreas that people might not know?” asked Redditor EldenRingBoi98.

To cut a long story short, instead of going home, as explained by Willing-Juggernaut67, CJ can pretty much explore the whole map though venturing too far will prompt a wanted rating.

That includes the beach in Santa Maria and Blueberry, plus he is able to buy houses, improve his driving skills by stealing vehicles, and much more.

It amazes me that despite releasing over 20 years ago, GTA: San Andreas is still not only a blast to play but there are seemingly tons of secrets that many fans don't even know about.

You can play a remastered version of GTA: San Andreas right now on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.

The next game in the ever-popular series to arrive will be Grand Theft Auto VI, currently scheduled to launch late this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC release is yet to be announced.
