There are just over eight months to go until we finally get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI after waiting well over a decade since the latest entry was released.

Beginning way back in 1997, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has been a cornerstone of the video game industry with Rockstar’s crime-filled titles becoming cult phenomena over the past couple of decades.

However, there is no denying that its upcoming entry, Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be the biggest yet and could even become the biggest video game launch of all time.

After all, it has been well over a decade since its last entry, Grand Theft Auto V, was released and fans have been waiting a long time to see what is next for the hit franchise.

Following a delay from Fall 2025 to 26 May 2026, said fans are having to wait a little bit longer to get their hands on Grand Theft Auto VI but a recent report reveals that the wait may be worth it.

Spotted by user Consistent-Ad-7455 over on r/GTA6, a recently posted Rockstar job listing has shed some light on the sheer scale of GTA VI.

“GTA 6, mentioned in a Rockstar job listing, was referred to as the ‘largest game launch in history.’

I believe this is the first time GTA 6 is actually mentioned in a job listing,” they shared alongside a screenshot of the job description.

The job listing was looking for a lead software engineer to join the team but it was the next paragraph that caught our attention.

“With the continued growth of Grand Theft Auto Online and the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6, the successful candidate will lead both the evolution and operation of the data platform supporting what will be the largest game launch in history, ensuring it scales to deliver an exceptional experience for millions of players worldwide.”

As the Reddit user pointed out, this is the first time that Rockstar itself has referred to GTA VI’s sheer scale.

Of course, many of us already know that Grand Theft Auto VI’s launch will break multiple records when it comes to its sheer popularity but hearing it from Rockstar itself has made the excitement grow even more.

“I don't think they're really wrong tbh,” one comment read.

“A lot of eyes are gonna be on it the day it releases, and after.”

User CoolCritterQuack agreed, adding, “Since I've been 7, every single GTA release has been a historical event for me.

I'm 32 now but still have the same passion for the series as my 7 year-old self.”

Grand Theft Auto VI is set to launch on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
