Grand Theft Auto VI has somehow welcomed its first player on PS5, and it could be linked to that mysterious review that dropped a few months ago.
Gamers are currently awaiting GTA VI’s third trailer which is expected to drop later this month. The game’s publisher Take-Two Interactive has an earnings call scheduled for 21 May.
Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has also been participating in a lot of interviews about the game, further implying a new reveal is on the way.
In a surprise twist though it seems some PS5 owners are already playing the game, as spotted by fans online.
GTA VI is due for launch on 19 November unless some last-minute delays are in the works. While we’re not expecting any delays, the possibility is still there as some ex-Rockstar employees have commented on the immense time constraints currently being placed on the team.

While further development and optimisation of the game will likely be a priority there’s bound to be a lot of playtesting too.
Barto on X believes they’ve spotted one of these playtesters, as when they checked out GTA VI’s PlayStation Store page they spotted someone from their friend list was somehow playing the game already…
Many are speculating this mysterious player is in possession of a developer kit, but forgot to make their PS5 appear offline before booting up the game.
Whether this is a playtester hired by Rockstar Games or simply one of the developers themselves remains a mystery, for now. We should probably take this post with a pinch of salt anyway, considering it could be fake.
Interestingly though, this isn’t the first player we’ve seen to have seemingly played GTA VI early, as earlier this year another player shocked the world with the game’s first review.
The review was posted to HowLongToBeat and surprisingly, it wasn’t favourable. The game was given a rating of 73% which we believed was actually too generous, considering the unknown player will have likely been playing a very early build.
Early reviews and early players aside, it doesn’t change the fact that GTA VI isn’t launching early.
That 19 November release date is still locked in for the time being and while the game’s third trailer is going to be huge, players can also look forward to the first preorders.
If you’re preordering on PS5 by the way, you do what Barto did above and keep an eye out for any of your existing friends already playing the game.
The preorders are exciting in themselves but it could all go wrong depending on what price is announced.
So far, Rockstar Games hasn’t confirmed the price of the game and there are still fears that it’ll be our very first $100 AAA game.
Fortunately, Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has put some of those fears to rest in recent interviews.
