The wait continues, my friends. I know, I know. We’re all waiting for news on Grand Theft Auto VI. Unfortunately, I don’t have any updates on that front, but I can tell you that a new gameplay feature has been added to GTA V and it’s one that fans have been asking for for years.

Before we dive into that, we do now have some idea of when GTA VI might be released. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, recently teased that they’re expecting the 2025 fiscal year to be a pretty big deal for them. Well, this runs from April 2024 to April 2025 which suggests that GTA VI is likely releasing during that window. In recent days, insiders have teased the inclusion of 80s flashbacks, adding that a portion of the game will be set in Cuba, but I’d take that with a pinch of salt for now. In the meantime, let’s take a look at GTA V’s latest gameplay feature.

GTA VI is rumoured to be set in Vice City. This incredible mod may give us an idea of what to expect.

Rockstar are finally introducing the option to hold to sprint in GTA V. It only took them, checks calendar, a decade. It’s wild to think that GTA V released without this. Typically, most recent releases will require you to press down on the left analogue stick to sprint. Others require you to hold a certain button elsewhere on the controller. GTA V though? It offered up a shortcut to finger arthritis, demanding you essentially button mash.

As reported by TheGamer, the upcoming change was announced on the Rockstar Games Newswire blog. While talking about GTA Online, Rockstar wrote that “an alternate sprint control option (hold to sprint) will be added to the Settings Menu.” Finally, your poor hands can have a rest. Personally, I’d be more into a ‘press to activate’ sprint option more so than ‘hold to sprint’ but hey, it’s an improvement. I won’t complain.

It looks as if the update is due to drop on 13 June.
