The Game Awards are rapidly approaching and while there have been so many bangers released this year only one may be crowned Game Of The Year 2025.

However while the prestigious award is a hot topic right now I’d invite you to think ahead to something bigger, Game Of The Decade.

There’s a few schools of thought you can adopt when thinking about this as you can either go from 2020 to 2030 or more realistically 2015 to 2025.

Some jaw-dropping releases have been launched within that time period and gamers have been discussing which game gets their vote as a bit of fun.

While Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Hollow Knight: Silksong are the popular votes this year, how do they fare against everything else that’s been released over the last few years?

Taking a look at Reddit who’ve been sharing their thoughts and opinions I couldn’t be happier with the result, as most comments hail Elden Ring as their Game Of The Decade, for the time being at least.

The Game Of The Year 2022 winner is in my opinion one of the best games ever made, and even better when you include the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion.

It also did a lot of heavy-lifting for the soulslike genre as compared to previous FromSoftware games it was rather accessible, albeit still challenging. This meant through its sheer popularity that gamers who’d never played a FromSoftware game or soulslike were convinced to give it a go, and as such news fans were born.

For that accomplishment alone I can fully see why many would consider it their Game Of The Decade.

Of course that opinion could change next year when Grand Theft Auto VI drops. The open-world game is one of the most highly-anticipated media products of all time and is set to break loads of sales records.

Like Elden Ring the fact it’s taken this long to come out paired with all of the internet hype means people who’ve never touched a Grand Theft Auto game will likely pick it up just to feel included.

All of this is just a bit of fun though and even when 2025’s Game Of The Year is crowned it’s ultimately your own opinion that matters at the end of the day.

It’ll definitely be a competitive one though, and I’m backing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to sweep the awards, it’s earned it.
