If you’re looking for a game with similar vibes to Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare, look no further than Huntsville, a multiplayer survival-shooter.

Huntsville, developed by Michael Janisch, is an upcoming Steam game that puts the player in a Western horror scenario, full of supernatural and paranormal entities. Set in a vast valley, the player will need to arm themselves and tread carefully if they want to survive the variety of monsters that live in the area.

Each type of creature has its own strengths and weaknesses, and some of them only come out at night for added difficulty.

Luckily, the player can shelter themselves from what’s lurking outside, as the game will feature base building, so you’ll have somewhere safe to stay while you plan your next move. Building a base will require materials though, which you can find in the open-world.

In terms of what you’ll be doing during the day, it’ll mostly consist of scouring the valley for supplies, including guns and their ammunition, food, water, and tools like hammers and hatchets. Your inventory will be limited though, so you’ll have to carefully decide what comes with you and what doesn’t, and leave your unwanted items on the floor or in a storage container back home.

There are plenty of different regions to explore too, like open fields, mountains, creeks and woodland, all of which will likely be home to a creature of two, and some regions are more difficult to explore than others due to extreme weather conditions.

You could play the game by yourself, or you could partner up with a couple of friends for some multiplayer survival. In the multiplayer mode, it’s reported players will be able to share a base, as well as ration out supplies between each other.

Huntsville will release sometime in 2024 on Steam. No specific release date has been given yet, but the game can be wishlisted.
