God Of War Ragnarök will make your PS4 sound like it's going to explode

God Of War Ragnarök runs perfectly well on the PlayStation 4 - but it may cause some extra sound effects.

The release of God Of War Ragnarök is less than one week away and I can barely contain my excitement - particularly now that those reviews have dropped. In case you missed it, God Of War Ragnarök has landed a very respectable score of 94 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic making it the sixth highest-rated game of all time.

Here at GAMINGbible, our very own Ewan rated the game a nine, writing that, “Ragnarök is a fantastically impressive sequel that delivers in every conceivable way. It expands on and improves the formula established in 2018’s God of War hugely, offering up blistering action, gut-wrenching twists, and truly cinematic boss battles with real emotional heft behind them. This is a high-stakes, high-fantasy rollercoaster from start to finish, and an instant PlayStation classic.” I’m sold. I should warn those of you hoping to grab this title on PlayStation 4 though, your console may produce some extra sound effects.

Much to the relief of many, God Of War Ragnarök is available on both PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles and despite just how ambitious the game is, reports claim that the PlayStation 4 version runs very well. There is one catch though. As reported by Kotaku, your console may sound like it’s going to explode which, for a 10 year old console, is understandable.

Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen took the PS4 version for a whirl noting, “It runs fine. Though be prepared to get some earplugs as my launch PS4 screamed the whole time I played it.” Perhaps the PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro will fare better. PlayStation 4 owners will have the opportunity to upgrade to the PS5 version further down the line but it will cost them £10 / $10 this time around. This year’s release of Horizon Forbidden West marked PlayStation’s final free upgrade path.

It certainly sounds like we won’t be short of things to do in God Of War Ragnarök. Personally, I love a long game and by long, I mean I’ll happily spend over 50 hours scouring every corner of an open world. Lucky for me, God Of War Ragnarök reportedly clocks in at around 70 hours in total if you want to see all the game has to offer. That’s my November plans sorted.
