God Of War: turns out Kratos actually has a favourite colour

God Of War fans have discovered what Kratos’ favourite colour is, and I bet you won’t be able to guess what it is.

The grumpy, monster-slaying, axe-throwing, Ghost of Sparta’s favourite colour was discovered through a description for the Loyalty Armour Appearance found within the latest game in the series, God Of War Ragnarök, and was promptly shared on the God Of War subreddit by user epic_fortnite_gamer1. The armour’s description reads, “Visual armour influenced by the Ghost of Sparta’s favourite colour” and if you’re worried about spoilers, look away now - you’ve been warned.

His favourite colour is ... red. Yeah, I know, shocking isn’t it? That’s right, the God of War’s favourite colour is red, who’d have thought? Other users were just as unsurprised by the reveal. After all, his body literally has red paint going across it and the main colour of the Spartans was crimson red, but nevertheless, it’s funny that the developers included such a little detail.

This isn’t the first revelation about Kratos' personal life to leave such an impact on fans, as recently PlayStation confirmed that his first name is John, which was initially a running joke amongst the fandom that has now been canonised. God Of War Ragnarök has seen massive success since its greatly anticipated launch, with vast amounts of praise for its storytelling, and how it expands upon the characters and world originally set up in God Of War (2018). However, I don’t think anyone expected favourite colours to be included in that type of lore expansion.

The future looks bright for the God Of War series, and we’re hoping that the development team continues to humour us with these little glimpses into the personal life of one of the greatest, battle-hardened characters in video game history ... John Kratos.
