Ryan Reynolds Partners With AbleGamers To Support Gamers With Disabilities

Deadpool actor and professional Hugh Jackman aggravator Ryan Reynolds has teamed up with AbleGamers to shine a light on the incredible work that the charity does to support disabled gamers around the world.

AbleGamers COO Steven Spohn shared a video earlier this week of himself and the Hollywood star discussing the importance of making video games more inclusive and accessible for as many people as possible. Reynolds joked that he'd waived his usual multi-million dollar fee, instead choosing to support AbleGamers out of the goodness of his heart.

"AbleGamers.org has been helping people with disabilities in gaming for over 15 years now," Reynolds explained. "They've helped thousands and thousands of people all around the world as an international charity, but there are thousands of more people still waiting to get equipment that they desperately need."

As Reynolds explains there are still thousands of people in America who simply aren't able to game because of their disability - but that's where AbleGamers comes in.

Founded back in 2004 by Mark Barlet and Stephanie Walker, AbleGamers assesses the challenges faced by each gamer living with a disability. Closely working with accessibility experts to find the right devices and setups, the charity works to equip every individual with the technology that suits them bests and lets them play the games they want, how they want.

Spohn has worked with AbleGamers for many years now, and even helped Microsoft develop its much-praised Xbox Adaptive Controller - a fantastic device that more easily allows players to create their very own setup through a series of external switches, buttons, and joysticks.
